Why does this job exist and why is it critical?

This role leads the payroll function, overseeing all payroll operations and strategy. The key objective is to ensure payroll accuracy, compliance, and efficiency while managing the payroll team and driving continuous improvement initiatives to support the organisation's goals.

Job Description
  • Lead and manage the payroll team, providing guidance, coaching, and performance management to ensure operational excellence and team development.
  • Oversee the entire payroll function to guarantee accurate, timely, and compliant processing of salaries, bonuses, and statutory contributions for all employees.
  • Perform and validate calculations for sensitive projects, including company-wide rightsizing exercises and resource cost, ensuring accurate financial provisioning.
  • Act as the final validator and approver for payroll runs, ensuring all checks, balances, and reconciliations are completed and any high-level issues are resolved.
  • Manage key compensation cycles, including resource cost budgeting and calculations, LTIP grant and vesting exercise, and handling related employee queries while ensuring data accuracy and compliance.
  • Develop and implement payroll policies, procedures, and controls to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance with statutory requirements and internal audit standards.
  • Serve as the ultimate escalation point for complex payroll issues, liaising with legal, finance, and HR business partners to ensure effective resolution.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives within the payroll function and projects, including system upgrades, automation, and integration with other HR systems.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 10 years of experience in Payroll, or a similar role, with 4 years of supervisory experience.
  • Proven ability to manage the full payroll lifecycle, from onboarding to offboarding.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and digital tools for workforce and benefits administration.
  • Solid understanding of Payroll, HR compliance, risk assessment, and audit procedures; and able to provide advisory solution to stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and implement process improvements and digitalization initiatives.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving capabilities and resourceful.
  • High level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential and sensitive information.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with a growth and customer-focused mindset.
