IR/ ER Manager, Human Resources
You will play a pivotal part in shaping internal communications, supporting both employees and management, contributing to a positive organisational climate.
As a Human Resources Manager focusing on Industrial Relations and Employee Relations in Bangsar South, KL, you will be instrumental in cultivating an atmosphere of trust and cooperation throughout the organisation. Your day-to-day activities will involve providing thoughtful guidance on sensitive IR/ER matters while ensuring that all processes are handled with care and respect for everyone involved.You will communicate important HR updates clearly across various channels so that employees remain informed about changes affecting their work life.
- Provide expert advice and support on all aspects of industrial relations and employee relations, ensuring compliance with local employment laws and company policies.
- Manage internal communications related to HR initiatives, policy changes, and organisational updates to ensure clarity and transparency throughout the workforce.
- Act as a trusted point of contact for employees and managers regarding grievances, disciplinary actions, performance management issues, and conflict resolution.
- Develop, review, and implement HR policies and procedures that promote fairness, consistency, and inclusivity within the workplace.
- Facilitate negotiations with employee representatives or unions when required, always aiming for mutually agreeable outcomes that support organisational goals.
- Conduct thorough investigations into employee complaints or disputes while maintaining confidentiality, impartiality, and sensitivity at all times.
- Support line managers with coaching on best practices in people management, helping them navigate complex interpersonal situations with empathy and professionalism.
- Monitor trends in employee relations issues to proactively identify areas for improvement or potential risk within the organisation.
- Collaborate closely with other HR functions such as talent acquisition, learning & development, payroll, and compensation & benefits to deliver seamless HR services.
- Champion initiatives that foster a positive work environment where employees feel heard, respected, and supported.
What you bring:
Your background should include comprehensive knowledge of employment legislation relevant to Malaysia alongside practical exposure to policy development. You are known for your empathetic approach when resolving conflicts—balancing organisational needs with individual well-being—and your ability to communicate clearly ensures everyone understands key messages.
- Demonstrated experience managing industrial relations (IR) and employee relations (ER) within a medium-to-large organisation or similar setting.
- Comprehensive understanding of Malaysian labour laws, regulations governing employment practices, and current industry standards.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport quickly with employees at all levels while remaining impartial during conflict resolution processes.
- Proven track record of developing clear HR policies that reflect best practice principles around fairness, inclusivity, and compliance.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities for preparing reports, delivering presentations, and facilitating internal communications effectively.
- Strong problem-solving skills combined with empathy when addressing sensitive employee concerns or disputes.
- Experience conducting investigations into workplace issues while upholding confidentiality requirements at all times.
- Ability to coach managers on people management techniques that encourage collaboration and mutual respect among team members.
- A commitment to ongoing professional development through participation in relevant training programmes or industry seminars.
- Familiarity with union negotiations or collective bargaining processes would be advantageous but not essential.
