Job Description:
Summary
The Deputy Director, Retail Banking Distribution, will be responsible for driving market expansion, optimizing distribution channels, and supporting the growth of new revenue streams. This role involves leading regional business planning, setting performance targets, overseeing operations, and ensuring alignment with the Bank’s strategic goals.The Deputy Director will also focus on performance management, stakeholder engagement, risk compliance, and staff development to drive the success of the Retail Banking division.

Region (6) - Regional Directors at Central 1 Region, Central 2 Region, Southern Region, Northern Region, Eastern Region, East Malaysia Region.
Duties and Responsibilities
Market Expansion & Strategy Implementation:
- Develop and implement strategies to expand market presence and optimize distribution channels to drive new revenue streams.
- Lead regional business planning and ensure alignment with the Bank's goals for Assets, Individual Deposits, and Fee-based services.
Performance Management:
- Establish and track Business Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in line with the Bank’s strategy.
- Analyze performance data to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement.
- Conduct regular process reviews to track progress against business plans and improve efficiency.
Target Setting & Coordination:
- Finalize business targets as set by senior leadership and communicate them to Regional and/or State Directors.
- Coordinate with regional teams to achieve targets and identify business opportunities by segment (assets, liabilities, fee-based services).
Driving Sales Performance:
- Conduct gap analysis and collaborate with Business Analytics and regional teams to optimize lead distribution and drive sales performance.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Regularly engage with key stakeholders (e.g., Centralized Processing Financing Centre, Credit Administration, Product Owners) to escalate and resolve issues raised by Regional or State Directors.
- Monitor local market trends and proactively address challenges or opportunities that affect the Bank.
Risk and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies, particularly those from Bank Negara Malaysia.
- Act as the Risk Controller (RC) for the division, representing the department in the GRB – ORCC Committee.
People Management & Development:
- Promote a culture of learning and self-development within the department, focusing on productivity, training, and talent mobility.
- Provide coaching and guidance to develop potential leaders and assist with succession planning.
- Support the Director of Retail Banking Distribution in assessing proposals for staff appointments and reassignments.
Support & Strategy Execution:
- Ensure successful execution of business plans and strategies through regular visits to regions, states, and branches.
- Support stakeholders and branches with new product launches, process updates, and campaigns.
Job Requirements
Experience:
- Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in retail banking, with a strong track record in sales leadership, distribution strategy, and performance management.
- Proven experience in managing large teams and driving strategic initiatives across multiple regions or branches.
- Experience in stakeholder engagement and cross-functional collaboration.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strategic Thinking: Strong ability to develop and implement market expansion strategies aligned with business goals.
- Analytical Skills: Proficient in interpreting performance data, conducting gap analyses, and identifying business opportunities.
- Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire teams, drive performance, and develop future leaders.

- Stakeholder Management: Effective in engaging and collaborating with internal stakeholders such as credit, operations, and product teams to resolve issues and drive results.
- Risk & Compliance: In-depth understanding of regulatory requirements, particularly those from Bank Negara Malaysia. Experience serving in risk oversight or compliance roles is preferred.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to present insights and influence at senior levels.
- Customer Focus: Strong commitment to delivering excellent customer service and driving customer-centric strategies.
- Willingness to travel regularly to regional offices, state branches, and field locations as needed.
