JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
As SAVP, Communications, you will lead the strategic planning and execution of Astro’s integrated communications across media, brand, and content platforms. Your role is critical in shaping public perception, enhancing stakeholder trust, and amplifying Astro’s presence across traditional, digital, and social media ecosystems.You will work closely with C-suite leaders, internal teams, and external partners to deliver high-impact communication outcomes that support business goals.
What You’ll Do:
Strategic Communications Leadership- Drive the overall communications strategy for the Group, aligning messaging across content, customer experience, technology, and digital ventures.
- Shape executive messaging and corporate narratives to strengthen brand positioning and support long-term business objectives.
- Act as a senior advisor on strategic communications, media relations, and crisis response to the leadership team.
- Lead all external communications across English, Bahasa Malaysia, Mandarin, and Tamil media platforms.
- Build and maintain strong media relationships to ensure high visibility and consistent coverage of Astro’s content, products, and services.
- Secure impactful media presence for Astro’s corporate announcements, content, products, services, talents, and partnerships.
- Proactively identify and capitalise on PR opportunities to enhance brand presence and business visibility.
- Maximise unpaid exposure through Astro-owned and partner platforms
- Lead go-to-market communications for new products, services, and technologies, ensuring cohesive storytelling across all platforms.
- Craft compelling communications strategies that translate business objectives into clear customer narratives.
- Oversee campaign execution from briefing to post-campaign analysis, working with internal teams and external agencies.
- Craft compelling narratives and key messaging for corporate campaigns, products, services, and strategic initiatives.
- Produce high-impact communication materials including but not limited to press releases, speeches, FAQs, executive memos, internal comms, media statements, and more, to support business priorities
- Ensure consistent tone, messaging, and brand voice across all channels—internal and external.
- Support internal stakeholder alignment through proactive communications planning.
- Conceptualise and execute creative campaigns, partnerships, and content integrations across traditional and digital platforms.
- Monitor and analyse industry, market, and competitor trends to inform content direction and identify comms opportunities.
- Align campaign resources, messaging, and execution plans with both commercial KPIs and brand strategy.
- Ensure all communication collateral reflects Astro’s values, tone of voice, and strategic positioning.
- Serve as the communications lead during crises, including rapid response planning, stakeholder coordination, and real-time media monitoring
- Develop timely and transparent messaging such as holding statements, media responses, and internal communications to manage public sentiment and protect the brand.
REQUIREMENTS:
Who You Are:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in corporate communications, PR, or media relations, preferably in media, technology, or telco sectors.
- Proven success in managing high-stakes media campaigns, strategic messaging, and crisis communications.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills across multiple formats.
- Strong stakeholder management and leadership capabilities.
- Fluent in English; proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia and Mandarin or Tamil is an advantage.
