What you'll do:
As Head of Human Resources based in Petaling Jaya, you will play a central role in driving the organisation’s people strategy. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve close collaboration with directors, department heads, suppliers, agencies, and contractors.You will be responsible for planning effective HR initiatives that support business growth while nurturing a positive workplace culture. - Plan, manage, and evaluate employee relations initiatives as well as human resources policies, programmes, and practices to ensure alignment with organisational goals.
- Support current and future business needs by developing strategies for engagement, motivation, and retention of employees across all departments.
- Monitor overall HR strategies while resolving conflicts through positive mediation techniques that promote understanding and cooperation.
- Update job requirements and descriptions for all positions regularly to maintain an accurate work structure that supports recruitment efforts.
- Advise management on appropriate resolutions for employee relations issues using considerate communication and empathetic approaches.
- Maintain affirmative action programmes to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and promote inclusivity throughout the organisation.
- Oversee monthly payroll processes by ensuring wages are updated accurately in the HR system and paid promptly to staff members.
- Manage pay plans and benefits programmes while conducting wage surveys within the labour market to determine competitive compensation rates.
- Ensure expatriate and foreign worker visas are renewed before expiry; advise departing expatriates on tax clearance procedures and visa cancellations.
- Develop, oversee, and manage performance appraisal systems that encourage high performance while preparing reports aimed at reducing absenteeism and turnover.
What you bring:
To excel as Head of Human Resources in Petaling Jaya, you bring extensive experience managing complex HR functions within fast-paced environments such as retail or similar sectors.- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Management or a related field is essential for this position.
- 5-8 years’ experience in a similar role within retail or comparable industries demonstrates your proven track record in HR management.
- Fluency in English & Bahasa Malaysia (both written and spoken) enables effective communication across diverse teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications including Word and Excel ensures efficient handling of documentation and reporting tasks.
- Ability to develop positive relationships with business partners highlights your interpersonal skills and commitment to collaboration.
- Experience managing payroll systems as well as pay plans and benefits programmes showcases your attention to detail and reliability.
- Demonstrated capability in overseeing expatriate affairs—including visa renewals, tax clearance advice, and salary administration—reflects your thoroughness.
