Associate, Legal - Kuala Lumpur
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all legal documentation for the Company's deals and providing high-level legal support to portfolio companies.
What you'll do:
As a Legal Associate, your role will be multifaceted and crucial to the company's operations. You will manage all legal documentation for the company's diverse range of deals across the Southeast Asia region. Your expertise will be called upon to provide high-level legal support to portfolio companies, ensuring their operations are compliant and well-guided legally.In addition to this, you will play an integral role in supporting the legal work stream relating to the private equity fund. During fundraising years, your skills will be instrumental in managing the legal workstream for fundraising. Your day-to-day responsibilities will also include advising, drafting, reviewing, and negotiating agreements.
- Manage all legal documentation for deals, including investments, exits, privatizations, and financing workstream
- Provide high-level legal support to portfolio companies, including M&A activities, contract drafting/reviewing, and advising on potential legal disputes
- Support legal work stream relating to a private equity fund
- Manage legal workstream for fundraising during fundraising year
- Advise, draft, review, negotiate agreements on a day-to-day basis
- Manage SPVs and supervise the legal support team on corporate secretarial, KYC and other housekeeping matters
- Support compliance initiatives and trainings
What you bring:
The ideal candidate for the Legal Associate position at this Company brings a wealth of experience and knowledge in corporate law. With 5-7 years post qualification experience focusing on M&A / Corporate practice at a top-tier law firm under your belt, you have developed sound knowledge of corporate and securities laws.Familiarity with Private Equities will be a strong plus point. Your ability to manage transaction work with minimal supervision, coupled with your excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills, make you the perfect fit for this role.
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from a reputable university – minimum 2:1
- 5-7 years PQE with a focus on M&A / Corporate practice at a top-tier law firm
- Sound knowledge of corporate and securities laws
- Familiarity with PEs will be a strong plus point
- Ability to manage transaction work with minimal supervision
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
