Education
- Diploma / Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field
- Minimum 2–5 years of relevant experience in construction or engineering projects
- Experience in cost control, contract administration, and tendering
- Strong numerical, analytical, and negotiation skills
- Good understanding of construction contracts and cost control methodologies
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and industry‑related software (e.g. CostX, PlanSwift, AutoCAD – advantage)
- Strong communication and reporting skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects
- Preferred Language(s): Bahasa Malaysia, English, Mandarin (as candidate needs to communicate with Mandarin speaking clients)
- Member or registered with a recognized professional body (e.g. BQSM, RICS, AIQS)
- Combination of office‑based work and site visits
- May require occasional travel to project sites
- Prepare accurate cost estimates, budgets, and bills of quantities
- Conduct feasibility studies and cost planning at various project stages
- Monitor project costs and cash flow throughout the project lifecycle
- Prepare and review tender documents, contracts, and procurement strategies
- Evaluate tenders and recommend contractor or supplier selection
- Administer contracts, including variations, claims, and extensions of time
- Track cost performance against approved budgets
- Prepare interim valuations, progress claims, and final accounts
- Provide regular cost reports and financial forecasts to stakeholders
- Identify cost risks and propose mitigation measures
- Perform value engineering to achieve optimal cost-to-value outcomes
- Ensure compliance with contractual, legal, and regulatory requirements
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, architects, and contractors
- Attend site meetings and conduct site valuations as required
- Provide commercial advice throughout the project duration
