Head of DCM

A leading financial institution in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a Head of Debt Capital Markets to drive the origination and execution of debt products, including debt securities, syndicated loans, and project finance with a strong emphasis on Islamic finance and structuring.

What you'll do:

• Originate and execute a wide range of debt products such as debt securities, syndicated loans, and project finance transactions by leveraging your expertise in structuring and market knowledge.
• Formulate and implement effective business development strategies to identify new opportunities while nurturing long-term relationships with existing clients.
• Collaborate closely with internal teams across departments to ensure seamless coordination throughout all stages of deal origination, structuring, and execution.
• Supervise the preparation of pitch books and presentations tailored to client needs while ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Oversee the due diligence process for each transaction by coordinating information gathering, preparing comprehensive information memoranda, and liaising with rating agencies as well as relevant authorities.
• Guide your team through the documentation process by providing clear direction on legal agreements, investor communications, and closing procedures for successful financial transactions.
• Coach mid-tier and experienced team members by offering mentorship that enhances their skills in deal execution, client engagement, and market analysis.
• Strengthen the department’s reputation as a niche player in the debt capital market by developing innovative approaches to loan syndication and sustainable finance solutions.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing Islamic finance capabilities within the team while expanding deal flow in this growing segment.
• Represent the organisation at industry events by building networks with investors, participating lenders, investment banks, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders.

What you bring:

• A degree from a reputable institution of higher learning with at least second class upper honours or a CGPA score of 3.5 or above; professional qualifications such as CFA or an MBA are highly regarded.
• At least 15 years’ experience in Corporate Banking or Debt Origination within Capital Markets; additional corporate experience is considered advantageous.
• Exceptional communication abilities paired with polished presentation skills that enable you to engage effectively with clients at all levels.
• A robust network within the financial sector complemented by proven interpersonal skills that facilitate relationship-building across diverse stakeholder groups.
• Demonstrated capability as a dependable team player who thrives on collaboration while maintaining mental agility under pressure.
• Experience coaching or mentoring mid-tier professionals within high-performing teams focused on achieving collective results.
• Comprehensive understanding of structuring complex debt products—including Islamic finance—and navigating regulatory frameworks relevant to Malaysian markets.
• Proficiency in supervising due diligence processes for large-scale transactions involving multiple parties such as rating agencies or investment banks.
• Track record of developing sustainable business strategies that enhance market positioning within competitive environments like loan syndication or project finance.
• Commitment to upholding ethical standards while fostering an inclusive workplace where knowledge sharing is encouraged.
