about the job

The Inspector of Works is responsible for the site-level technical surveillance of civil, structural, and architectural works. The primary goal is to ensure the contractor adheres to the "Three Pillars": Approved Drawings, Technical Specifications, and Quality Standards (e.g., Q-LASSIC / CONQUAS).

  1. Technical Surveillance & Quality Control
  • Conduct daily inspections of all site activities (piling, structural framing, MEP rough-ins, and architectural finishes).
  • Witness and verify material testing, including concrete cube tests, tensile strength tests, and plumbing pressure tests.
  • Ensure that only approved materials (as per the Material Submission Form) are used and stored correctly on-site.
  1. Compliance & Verification
  • Verify that setting-out and levels are accurate according to the Surveyor’s benchmarks.
  • Check reinforcement bar (rebar) sizing, spacing, and cleanliness before any concrete pour.
  • Monitor and sign off on "Request for Inspection" (RFI) forms submitted by the contractor.
  1. Reporting & Documentation
  • Maintain an accurate Site Diary, recording manpower, machinery, weather, and daily progress.
  • Develop and update the Defect Log, tracking rectification works from identification through to final sign-off.
  • Provide photographic evidence for progress payment valuations to ensure the developer only pays for work correctly completed.
  1. Safety & Coordination
  • Escalate any safety violations or structural risks to the Safety Officer and Project Manager immediately.
  • Attend weekly site progress meetings to provide updates on quality trends or technical bottlenecks.

  • Education: Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering, Building Science, or Architecture.
  • Registration: Valid certification or registration with the relevant professional board (e.g., BEM, LAM, or RICS).
  • Experience: Minimum 5+ years of site experience, specifically in high-rise or large-scale residential projects.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in reading complex CAD drawings and BIM (Building Information Modeling).
  • Tools: Expert use of digital inspection software
  • Personal Traits: High integrity, firm assertiveness, and an uncompromising eye for detail.
