What you'll do:
As a Senior Accountant based in Kuala Lumpur, you will be entrusted with a wide range of responsibilities that are central to the smooth operation of the Malaysia entity.- Ensure all financial accounting activities—including accounts payable, accounts receivable, intercompany invoicing, asset management, and depreciation—are completed accurately and on time.
- Oversee the collection of outstanding receivables by collaborating with internal teams and external partners to maintain healthy cash flow.
- Monitor key performance indicators such as Days of Sales Outstanding, Work In Progress, and Accounts Receivable to support effective decision-making.
- Work closely with the Regional Finance Director to ensure the legal structure is optimised for compliance with local regulations and group standards.
- Contribute actively to large-scale improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing efficiency across finance processes.
- Support the implementation of financial system upgrades in line with group-wide standards to streamline reporting and data integrity.
- Manage cash flow by forecasting needs, monitoring balances, and ensuring sufficient liquidity for ongoing operations.
- Coordinate budgeting processes and conduct variance analysis between projections and actual results to inform strategic planning.
- Prepare monthly status reports as well as annual financial statements in accordance with statutory requirements.
- Lead year-end audit planning and execution by liaising with auditors and preparing necessary documentation.
- Ensure full compliance with corporate income tax, staff withholding tax, Malaysian taxes, local registrations, and statutory reporting obligations.
- Provide business support to the local management team through insightful analysis and timely information sharing.
- Oversee payroll management including employee attendance tracking in partnership with an external payroll agency.
- Handle purchasing of office equipment and manage other ad-hoc administrative tasks as required.
What you bring:
To excel as a Senior Accountant in this organisation, you will bring proven experience from previous roles involving auditing or accounting—ideally gained within internationally oriented companies.- A minimum of 3-4 years’ experience in auditing or accounting roles within organisations that have provided international exposure is highly desirable for this position.
- Comprehensive understanding of accounting principles coupled with advanced analytical capabilities is essential for success in this role.
- Exceptional communication skills—both written and verbal—in English as well as the local language are required to facilitate effective collaboration across teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is necessary for handling complex data sets and generating insightful reports that inform business decisions.
- In-depth knowledge of Malaysian tax regulations ensures full compliance with statutory requirements relevant to this market.
- Tertiary education with formal qualifications in accounting, finance or business is preferred; degree holders will be prioritised though it is not mandatory if equivalent experience can be demonstrated.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative while working independently shows readiness for responsibility within this senior-level position.
- Meticulous attention to detail combined with excellent administrative skills supports accuracy across all aspects of financial management.
- Previous experience using SAP or similar ERP systems would be advantageous but not essential; willingness to learn new technologies is important.
