Role Summary
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will serve as a strategic business partner to the Group CEO and Board, overseeing all aspects of financial leadership for the plantation division. This includes financial strategy, operational finance, reporting, corporate finance, and governance.The CFO will be responsible for driving financial performance, enhancing internal control, supporting strategic initiatives including land bank optimization, M&A, and ensuring statutory compliance within a complex, multi-location plantation business environment.
Key Responsibilities- Financial Strategy & Leadership
- Lead the financial strategy, planning, and budgeting for the plantation division.
- Advise the CEO and Board on financial implications of business activities and strategic decisions.
- Monitor financial performance and proactively address key variances and risks.
- Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Oversee preparation of accurate, timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with MFRS/IFRS.
- Ensure compliance with Bursa Malaysia, SC, and other statutory reporting requirements.
- Manage external audit processes and relationships with auditors, tax agents, and regulators.
- Operational Finance
- Lead cost control initiatives across estates, mills, and downstream operations.
- Monitor and improve plantation yield and cost per hectare benchmarks from a financial standpoint.
- Collaborate with estate managers and operation heads to enhance productivity and profitability.
- Treasury & Fundraising
- Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and funding strategies including sukuk/bond issuance, revolving credit, and structured financing.
- Monitor currency and commodity exposure and implement appropriate hedging strategies if needed.
- Corporate Finance & M&A
- Lead feasibility assessments, financial modelling, and due diligence for strategic acquisitions or divestments.
- Support land development and land bank monetisation strategies.
- Governance, Risk Management & Internal Control
- Strengthen internal controls and risk management across plantation operations.
- Ensure strong financial discipline and compliance with group policies and governance standards.
- Team Leadership & Development
- Build and lead a high-performing finance team with a strong presence at both HQ and plantation sites.
- Drive continuous improvement in financial systems, processes, and team capabilities.
- A recognized degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline; professional qualification (CA, CPA, ACCA) is essential.
- Minimum 15 years of progressive financial experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Experience in a plantation or agri-business setting is highly preferred.
- Prior exposure in a public listed company and familiarity with Bursa/SC reporting.
- Strong commercial acumen, strategic thinking, and stakeholder management skills.
- Hands-on leadership style with ability to navigate between strategic and operational priorities.
- Proficient in financial systems such as SAP, Oracle or similar ERP platforms.
