Manager, Strategic Finance

What you'll do:

• Assist in developing and refining comprehensive financial forecasts and budgets by analysing historical trends, market conditions, and key business assumptions to ensure robust planning processes.
• Prepare detailed financial reports with a focus on accuracy, completeness, and timely submission to internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
• Conduct thorough variance analysis to provide actionable insights into financial performance, cost trends, and revenue drivers across multiple business units.
• Support the Capital & Asset Liability Management team by contributing to optimal funding strategies and liquidity management initiatives.
• Work collaboratively to analyse net interest margin, funding structures, and capital allocation decisions that impact overall organisational health.
• Ensure all financial reporting activities comply with relevant standards such as Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS) and Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) Policy Documents.
• Provide expert accounting advice on new financing structures, products, and business initiatives to ensure sound financial practices are embedded from inception.
• Oversee operational expenditure (OPEX) and capital expenditure (CAPEX) tracking processes to maintain cost efficiency and effective budget control throughout the year.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements aimed at enhancing the accuracy of financial reporting as well as operational efficiency through automation or other enhancements.
• Act as a trusted advisor to business units by delivering data-driven insights that inform strategic decision-making while supporting risk assessment activities.

What you bring:

• A degree in Accountancy or Finance is required; holding a professional qualification such as ACCA or CPA is considered an added advantage for this position.
• You bring at least 4-8 years of relevant experience within finance functions along with a minimum of 2 years at managerial level overseeing teams or projects.
• Demonstrated technical proficiency in Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS), BNM Guidelines, BASEL I/II/III requirements, Development Financial Institution Act 2002, Companies Act 2016 is essential.
• Hands-on experience using general ledger systems such as Finance One or similar platforms is highly valued for this role.
• Proven track record managing asset & liability management processes alongside budgetary control responsibilities within complex organisations.
• Exceptional analytical thinking skills enable you to interpret complex data sets while identifying trends that inform strategic recommendations.
• Strong problem-solving abilities allow you to address challenges proactively while maintaining compliance with internal controls and external regulations.
• Excellent communication skills—both written (report writing) and verbal—ensure you can convey complex information clearly to diverse audiences.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) supports your ability to deliver high-quality presentations and documentation efficiently.
• A collaborative approach fosters positive relationships across departments while supporting mentorship of junior team members.
