Halal & R&D Executive

• 2–4 years of experience in F&B (café, QSR, or restaurant preferred)
• Must possess Certificate Halal Executive
• Must have experience as a certified Halal Executive
• Knowledge of halal certification and compliance processes
• Experience in menu development and kitchen operations
• Familiar with HACCP, GMP, and food safety practices

Job Summary

The Halal & R&D Executive is responsible for ensuring full compliance with halal standards across all outlets while leading menu development and product innovation. This role ensures that all products are halal-compliant, operationally efficient, cost-effective, and aligned with brand quality for café, quick-service, and dine-in concepts.

1. Halal Compliance & Certification

• Ensure compliance with halal standards set by JAKIM
• Manage halal certification, documentation, and renewal processes
• Verify halal status of all ingredients and suppliers
• Implement and maintain Halal Assurance System (HAS)
• Conduct internal audits and support external halal inspections
• Train outlet staff on halal handling procedures and SOPs

1. Menu Development & Product Innovation

• Develop and improve menu items for café, counter service, and restaurant formats
• Standardize recipes and establish clear SOPs for all outlets
• Conduct product trials and ensure feasibility for high-volume operations
• Optimize recipes for cost control, speed of service, and consistency
• Support seasonal menu launches and promotional items

1. Product Quality & Food Safety

• Conduct sensory evaluation, shelf-life, and holding-time testing
• Ensure compliance with HACCP, GMP, and food safety standards
• Prepare product specifications, costing sheets, and documentation

1. Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with Operations, Procurement, QA/QC, and Marketing teams
• Support training and rollout of new menu items across outlets
• Stay updated with halal regulations and industry trends via Department of Islamic Development Malaysia
