Education & Certification
Certificate or diploma in automotive technology (preferred)
Valid driver's license
Automotive technician certification
Skills
Basic knowledge of car engines, brakes, electrical, and mechanical systems
Ability to use tools and diagnostic equipment
Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
Ability to follow instructions and technical manuals
Experience
6months –2 years of experience as a car mechanic (can include apprenticeship)
Fresh graduates with training may be considered for junior positions- Inspect and Diagnose
Check the car to find out what's wrong.
Use tools or machines to help identify problems.- Repair
Fix or replace broken parts (e.g., brakes, batteries, belts, lights).
Work on engines, transmissions, suspensions, etc.- Maintenance
Do regular services like oil changes, filter replacements, tire rotation, and fluid top-ups.
Check and refill coolant, brake fluid, and other liquids.- Test and Check
Test the car after repair to make sure IT's working properly.
Listen for unusual sounds and check performance.
