What you'll do:
As a Senior Accountant based in Penang’s thriving manufacturing and production sector, you will be entrusted with overseeing all aspects of financial management from daily bookkeeping through to complex costing analysis. Your day-to-day responsibilities will see you collaborating with multiple departments to ensure seamless integration of financial data into business operations.You will play an instrumental role in maintaining rigorous internal controls while also driving improvements in accounting systems. - Oversee the complete set of accounts including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, fixed assets management, and bank reconciliations to ensure all records are accurate and up-to-date.
- Ensure timely completion of month-end and year-end closing activities while preparing comprehensive financial reports that meet internal and external requirements.
- Maintain robust documentation practices and internal controls in strict adherence to accounting standards as well as company policies.
- Act as the primary liaison with external auditors, tax agents, and relevant regulatory authorities to facilitate smooth audits and compliance processes.
- Manage product costing activities including standard cost updates, variance analysis across materials, labour, and overheads to provide actionable insights for operational improvement.
- Perform monthly cost roll-ups and calculate cost of goods sold (COGS) while analysing production data to identify trends in cost efficiency.
- Support budgeting cycles by preparing forecasts, conducting detailed financial analyses, and generating management reports such as profit and loss statements, margin breakdowns, and cost analyses.
- Conduct thorough variance analysis between actual results and budgeted figures; provide clear recommendations for corrective actions where necessary.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams including production, supply chain, and procurement to monitor costs effectively and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist in enhancing accounting systems and costing modules by identifying opportunities for process streamlining that improve both accuracy and efficiency.
What you bring:
To excel as a Senior Accountant within this manufacturing and production environment, you will bring proven experience managing comprehensive accounting functions along with deep familiarity handling product costing processes. - Possess a degree in Accounting or Finance or hold an equivalent professional qualification such as ACCA or CPA which demonstrates your technical proficiency.
- Bring at least five years’ experience in accounting roles with a minimum of two years dedicated specifically to manufacturing costing responsibilities.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of current financial reporting standards alongside practical expertise in manufacturing cost accounting principles.
- Showcase advanced proficiency using accounting systems or ERP platforms such as SAP, Oracle, AutoCount or similar solutions relevant to large-scale operations.
- Exhibit excellent Excel skills enabling you to perform complex data analysis efficiently for accurate reporting purposes.
- Display strong analytical thinking abilities allowing you to interpret financial data effectively for strategic planning purposes.
- Communicate clearly both verbally and in writing so you can collaborate successfully with colleagues from different departments as well as external stakeholders like auditors or tax agents.
