Dental Surgery Assistant

Requirement:

• Minimum Qualification: SPM or equivalent
• Preferred: Certificate in Dental Surgery Assisting (DSA) or relevant experience in a dental clinic
• Proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia and basic English
• Friendly, polite, and professional demeanor
• Able to work independently and in a team
• Willing to work weekends and in shift rotation
• Punctual and responsible

Added advantage:

• Knowledge of dental software (e.g., Klinik Assist, iSmile, or similar)
• Experience with infection control audits or compliance
• CPR/First Aid certification

• 5.days/week, including weekends on rotation
• Day shift

The Dental Surgery Assistant (DSA) plays a vital role in supporting the dentist during clinical procedures, ensuring high standards of infection control, patient care, and smooth clinical operations. This role requires excellent teamwork, attention to detail, and a caring attitude toward patients.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist the dentist during all clinical procedures, including scaling, fillings, extractions, root canals, and surgeries.
• Prepare instruments, materials, and medications before procedures.
• Provide suctioning, retraction, and instrument handling during treatments.
• Ensure patient comfort and safety before, during, and after procedures.

• Clean, disinfect, and sterilize instruments following MOH infection control guidelines.
• Maintain aseptic clinical areas, including dental chairs, treatment rooms, and tray setups.
• Adhere strictly to proper hand hygiene and PPE protocols.

• Welcome and prepare patients for treatment.
• Provide pre- and post-operative instructions as directed by the dentist.
• Offer reassurance and emotional support to anxious patients.

• Record treatment notes accurately in the dental software system.
• Manage inventory and stock levels for dental materials and instruments.
• Schedule appointments, follow-ups, and recalls when required.
• Assist in billing and preparing treatment plans (if trained).

• Ensure cleanliness and readiness of treatment rooms and common areas.
• Assist with laundry, waste disposal, and general upkeep of the clinic environment.
