Barista

Role Overview

This role combines barista skills with light kitchen duties. You’ll prepare a concise menu of coffee, hot drinks, protein shakes, and pastries while maintaining a clean, efficient, and welcoming café environment. You'll be a core part of the member experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare high-quality espresso-based drinks, teas, and hot wellness beverages.
• Make protein shakes with consistency in taste, texture, and presentation.
• Maintain correct recipes, measurements, and portion control.
• Light Food Handling
• Warm and serve pastries (no full cooking required).
• Handle grab-and-go items and prep simple ingredients (e.g., fruits for shakes).
• Ensure food hygiene and safe storage practices.
• Customer Experience
• Welcome members with warmth and professionalism.
• Take orders accurately and provide recommendations when asked.
• Work calmly during peak times without compromising quality.
• Cleaning & Maintenance
• Keep the café counter, equipment, and prep area clean at all times.
• Conduct daily opening and closing procedures.
• Maintain milk pitchers, blender jugs, espresso machine, grinder, and fridge cleanliness.
• Inventory & Stock Management
• Track usage of coffee beans, milk, protein powder, teas, pastries, fresh produce.
• Alert the Community Manager when items are low.
• Receive and store deliveries properly.
• Cashier Duties
• Process payments via POS system.

Ensure accurate recording of sales.

Requirements

• 1–2 years of barista experience (preferred but not mandatory if fast learner).
• Comfortable preparing simple food items.
• Basic understanding of espresso extraction and milk steaming.
• Ability to work weekends as well as public holidays

• Friendly, grounded, and professional.
• Clean, organised, and reliable.
• Enjoys interacting with a fitness/wellness-focused community.
