Merchandise/Graphic/Product Designer

Overview:

Our client is a small, fast-growing product and licensing solutions agency specializing in custom-designed premiums and merchandise. They are experts in custom design, character licensing, and movie premium promotions, serving top multinational and recognizable brands across Malaysia and the region.

They create tailored promotional solutions that specifically target the kids demographic while also expanding into more premium gifts for teens and adults.

They are seeking a highly creative and detail-oriented Product Designer to join their team and bring innovative premium merchandise concepts to life across all age groups.

Job Scope & Responsibilities:

• Work on developing design concepts and ideas
• Participate in brainstorming sessions
• Sketch initial design ideas
• Produce detailed drawings and finished artworks
• Prototyping, sample-making and testing
• Research new ideas and concepts, materials, processes or market requirements

• Develop creative designs for custom premium merchandise and gifts targeting kids primarily, while also targeting teens, and adults, including character-licensed products and movie tie-ins.
• Create concepts that incorporate licensed characters and themes while strictly adhering to licensing guidelines.
• Produce mostly 2D illustrations, sometimes 3D CAD models, technical drawings, and production-ready artworks.
• Handle end-to-end prototyping, sample-making, material testing, and refinement to ensure designs are safe, age-appropriate, cost-effective, and production-ready.
• Research market trends in licensed merchandise and premium gifts for kids primarily, while also targeting teens, and adults.
• Collaborate with sales, licensing, and production teams to align designs with client briefs and budgets.

Requirements:

• At least 1-2 years of working experience in a similar industry.
• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in design-related courses (e.g., Graphic Design, Industrial Design, or related fields).
• Strong portfolio showcasing design skills and industry-relevant projects
