An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Technical Project Manager to join a leading financial institution in Kuala Lumpur, where you will play a pivotal role in delivering strategic technology projects within the Treasury and Risk domain. This position offers you the chance to work on high-impact regulatory initiatives and capital efficiency programmes that span multiple markets, supporting mission-critical systems across FX, Derivatives, Fixed Income, and Money Market instruments.

What you'll do:

As a Technical Project Manager based in Kuala Lumpur, you will be entrusted with overseeing the full spectrum of technology projects within the Treasury and Risk space. Your day-to-day activities will involve orchestrating cross-functional teams through complex regulatory-driven initiatives that demand meticulous attention to detail and unwavering commitment to quality.
You will be responsible for aligning technical solutions with business needs by collaborating closely with analysts, developers, QA specialists, infrastructure experts, and external partners. Your ability to anticipate challenges—whether related to compliance requirements or integration complexities—will be crucial in driving timely resolutions.
By championing best practices in governance, documentation, testing protocols, cloud adoption, DevOps automation tools, and secure design principles, you will help ensure every project delivers tangible value while upholding the highest standards of operational excellence.

Success in this role hinges on your capacity for clear communication across diverse audiences as well as your dedication to nurturing a collaborative team environment where everyone feels empowered to contribute their expertise.

  • Lead the technical planning and delivery of end-to-end projects within the Treasury and Risk domain, ensuring all objectives are achieved on time and within scope.
  • Coordinate effectively with business analysts, development teams, quality assurance professionals, infrastructure engineers, and third-party vendors to align deliverables throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure all system designs adhere strictly to enterprise architecture standards as well as security protocols and regulatory requirements relevant to banking technology environments.
  • Monitor project risks and issues proactively by developing resolution plans in collaboration with stakeholders and escalating blockers when necessary to maintain momentum.
  • Support every phase of the project lifecycle—including System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), performance testing, and security validation—to guarantee robust system implementation.
  • Take ownership of implementation strategies and cutover plans to minimise production disruption during go-live events or major releases.
  • Communicate clearly and regularly with both technical teams and business stakeholders to foster alignment, transparency, and shared understanding of project goals.
  • Track progress against delivery milestones using established governance frameworks while ensuring comprehensive documentation compliance at each stage.
  • Champion best practices in DevOps, cloud adoption, integration methodologies, and security practices throughout all phases of project delivery.
  • Facilitate knowledge transfer sessions post-implementation to support ongoing system maintenance and user adoption.

What you bring:

To excel as a Technical Project Manager in this role you will bring extensive experience managing multifaceted technology projects within regulated industries—ideally banking or capital markets—with a particular emphasis on Treasury or Risk systems.
Your proven ability to navigate complex organisational structures while fostering positive relationships among diverse stakeholders will set you apart. You possess deep familiarity with both traditional SDLC models and modern agile methodologies which allows you to adapt your approach according to evolving project needs.
Your hands-on technical background ensures you can engage meaningfully with engineering teams while also translating intricate concepts into actionable insights for non-technical audiences. A strong sense of responsibility towards compliance standards combined with your passion for knowledge sharing makes you an invaluable asset during both delivery phases and post-implementation support.

Your educational foundation is complemented by industry-recognised certifications that further demonstrate your commitment to professional excellence.

  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in IT roles with at least 3 years dedicated to managing complex technical projects within large-scale organisations.
  • Proven track record working with Treasury systems or Trading/Risk platforms such as Murex, Calypso or Summit; direct experience is highly valued but not mandatory.
  • Comprehensive understanding of project governance frameworks alongside practical knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies including agile and waterfall approaches.
  • Hands-on background in systems development, integration or solution architecture which enables effective oversight of technical deliverables from inception through deployment.
  • Demonstrated skill in stakeholder engagement—building trust-based relationships with business users as well as technical contributors—and coordinating vendor activities for optimal outcomes.
  • Previous exposure to banking or capital markets environments is highly desirable given the regulatory focus of these projects.
  • Comfort operating under pressure within fast-evolving regulatory landscapes while maintaining composure and attention to detail at all times.
  • Familiarity with programming languages (Java/Python/Shell scripting), integration tools (Kafka/MQ/APIs), databases (Oracle/Sybase/SQL/Hadoop/Spark), analytics platforms (Power BI), cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure/Red Hat/Linux/Docker/Kubernetes), DevOps toolchains (Jenkins/Git/Bitbucket/Maven/Ansible), testing suites (Selenium/JUnit/LoadRunner/JMeter), project management software (JIRA/Confluence/ServiceNow), and security practices (Fortify/SonarQube/TLS/authentication protocols).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or related discipline is required; additional certifications such as PMP/PRINCE2/Scrum Master or cloud credentials are advantageous.
