Possess a Degree in Architecture, Conservation, or a related field, with specialized training in building conservation.
  • Heritage Executive — Min. 5 years’ experience, with a strong background in Dilapidation Report, Conservation Management Plan (CMP) & Heritage Impact Assessment (HIA).
  • Familiar and good in preparing dilapidation report, documentation and research work.
  • Maintaining accurate records and managing projects effectively.
  • Proficiency in traditional construction techniques, material science, and conservation methodologies.
  • Ability to assess building conditions and devise appropriate conservation strategies.
  • Experience in managing conservation projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and coordination.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for reporting and liaising with stakeholders.
  • Historical Research and Documentation.
  • Conduct thorough investigations and research into the building’s history, including original design, construction methods, and previous alterations.
  • Prepare and compile detailed documentation such as Dilapidation Report, Heritage Impact Assessment Report (HIA), Conservation Management Plan (CMP), Historical Architectural Building Surveys (HABS), measured drawings, and photographic records to guide conservation efforts.
  • Condition Assessment and Analysis.
  • Perform comprehensive assessments of the building’s structural and non-structural elements to identify deterioration causes and recommend appropriate conservation treatments.
  • Utilize scientific analysis and diagnostic tools to inform conservation strategies.
  • Develop and oversee conservation plans that adhere to the principles of minimal intervention, reversibility, and compatibility with original materials.
  • Collaborate with contractors and clients to ensure that conservation work is executed according to approved methodologies and standards.
  • Material Selection and Restoration Techniques.
  • Advise on the selection of authentic materials that match the original in composition, texture, and appearance.
  • Supervise restoration techniques, including the repair of timber, masonry, plaster, and decorative elements, ensuring that interventions are distinguishable from original fabric.
  • Project Management and Compliance.
  • Ensure that all conservation activities comply with necessary approvals from authorities such as the Department of National Heritage.
  • Assisting with conservation tasks: this may include cleaning, stabilizing, and restoring objects under the guidance of senior conservators.
  • Familiar with Jabatan Warisan Negara (JWN) report requirement.
  • Attend site meeting.
  • Attend Site Inspection.
