What you'll do:

As Manager, Credit and Collection at this public-listed solar energy company in Petaling Jaya, you will be entrusted with end-to-end accountability for all aspects of credit management—including overseeing billing processes—across both Malaysian operations and an overseas business unit.
Your day-to-day activities will involve guiding your team towards achieving ambitious collection targets while fostering open communication between departments. You will be instrumental in resolving complex disputes efficiently, authorising key financial decisions related to receivables management, and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
By championing process improvements through project leadership and maintaining rigorous internal controls, you will help safeguard the company’s financial health. Additionally, you will contribute valuable insights through detailed reporting on trends in receivables performance while supporting budgeting activities for overseas operations.

Your success in this role will depend on your ability to balance strategic oversight with hands-on problem-solving—ensuring that every aspect of credit control supports the broader mission of advancing sustainable energy solutions.

  • Provide guidance, coaching, and support to direct reports by developing yearly credit and collection goals as well as monitoring performance targets for your team.
  • Drive achievement of quarterly and annual collection and billing objectives through effective team management and implementation of strategic initiatives.
  • Facilitate communication with internal departments and external stakeholders to ensure smooth collections and billing processes.
  • Lead projects focused on process improvement and change management to enhance operational efficiency within the credit and collection function.
  • Implement and maintain a robust internal control framework that aligns with both internal policies and external regulations.
  • Define, implement, and review collection strategies to achieve quarterly goals while enhancing overall cash flow for Solarvest entities.
  • Manage escalated disputes from customers or business development teams by providing timely resolutions that protect company interests.
  • Engage solicitors or collection agencies when necessary; approve handover of cases; oversee receivables write-offs; manage customer bankruptcy matters effectively.
  • Approve non-standard payment terms, refunds, payment plans, credit holds, commission payments to business development teams, as well as P&L adjustments such as bad debt provisions or write-offs.
  • Monitor receivables aging reports closely by following up on overdue accounts promptly and initiating corrective actions to mitigate risks associated with bad debts.

A keen eye for detail ensures accuracy in reporting while your collaborative mindset helps drive continuous improvement initiatives. Above all else, your commitment to responsible financial stewardship aligns perfectly with the company’s mission of delivering sustainable value through ethical business practices.

  • A university degree in Finance or equivalent qualification coupled with 5–8 years’ experience in credit control or related fields is essential for this position.
  • Proven understanding of the solar EPCC or construction industry is highly desirable as it enables you to navigate sector-specific challenges effectively.
  • Demonstrated results orientation with a consistent track record of meeting or exceeding targets within credit management functions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English are required so you can engage confidently with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Advanced problem-solving abilities supported by sound evaluation skills enable you to implement practical solutions quickly when issues arise.
  • Strong analytical thinking combined with critical reasoning allows you to interpret complex data sets accurately for informed decision-making.
  • Experience optimising processes by tracking efficiency metrics; developing countermeasures for root causes; proactively identifying new risks through regular reviews is highly valued.
  • Familiarity with financial accounting standards (Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards/International Financial Reporting Standards) is important for managing sub-group accounts across multiple jurisdictions.
